Meet Buddy

This is Buddy, our newest member of the household.

He is our Elf on the Shelf that was sent to us from Santa himself to watch over the boys.  He flies home to the North Pole every night and reports to Santa himself about whether or not the boys were naughty or nice for the day.  No one is ever allowed to touch Buddy because if you do, he will surely lose his magic and will, therefore, be unable to return to Santa to report just how great you are being.  When he returns to our home he always likes to play some sort of trick or make some magic.  However, after the shenanigans are through he quickly takes his perch on our mantel and keeps his eyes on the boys.  He will let Santa know...have you been naughty...or have you been nice??

After Buddy arrived to our house we read the story of the Elf on the Shelf to Dylan and he after some help from Daddy, Dylan quickly decided that "Buddy" would be the best name for him.  Buddy flew home to Santa to let him know of his new home and his new name.  When he arrived back at our house the next morning, Buddy quickly made himself at home.  He made himself a bubble bath  of marshmallows in Dylan's sink.

(Dylan finding Buddy the Elf in the sink and my "super awesome ancient phone" attempting to capture the moment)

After his first day here, Dylan went to school and told everyone about his "magical elf."  He came back and continuously proclaimed how good he had been during the day.  He went to bed and was asking me what kind of magic I thought his "Elf the Buddy" (lol) would do the next day.  This is what he woke up to.
After a ton of searching throughout the house and feeling as though he'd never find his Buddy he'd almost given up.  I told him he should get some breakfast and maybe Buddy would show up later.  I had him go to the refrigerator (or in Dylan terms...the "Food-drater") and get out a yogurt.  He opened it up to find Buddy had "made magic" and turned his milk green!  He didn't quite know what to think of it.  His first thought was "I can drink it? It won't make me sick??"  LOL I told him "no, the elf will never make you sick...he just likes to do magic!"  After that...the green milk was "awesome".

Santa gave me a "pass" and gave me a glimpse into what Buddy was doing tonight...
It seems as though Buddy has taken a liking to Dylan's favorite dump truck and cars.  We'll see how well this goes over with Dylan tomorrow with him not being able to touch his favorites!!
